Tea tasting session to be held in Hyderabad

Special Correspondent

Udhagamandalam: A tea tasting session of The Golden Leaf India Awards: Southern Tea Competition (TGLIA: STC) will be organised on the sidelines of the three-day Tea and Coffee World Cup Asia which got under way in Hyderabad on Thursday.

In a press note issued at Coonoor, N.Dharmaraj, Convener, Organising Committee, TGLIA: STC, said the session would be organised on Friday.

He said the TGLIA was now increasingly being acknowledged as a brand which signifies quality.

The prize winning estates had made it a practice to use the logo to market their teas as it attracted a premium both in the national and international markets. At the session, three TGLIA winners in categories like CTC Leaf, Fanning and Dust would be tasted along with Kenyan teas belonging to the same categories. A similar process would be gone through for Orthodox teas.
