10-year RI for man, son

KRISHNAGIRI: Krishnagiri Additional Judge S. Kumaraguru sentenced a man and his son 10 years rigorous imprisonment for killing a person on Novemeber, 2004.

The prosecution cas was that Madhavan (50), wife Rani, sons Amasi (22) and Krishnan (22), and Amasi’s wife Shantha (22) attacked Periyasamy of Karunkannankottai area in Vettiampatti near Krishnagiri with wooden logs on November 5, 2004. Periyasamy, wife Saratha and son Govindasamy were injured in the incident.

Periyasamy died at Salem Government Hospital on November 9, 2004.

A quarrel over cattle rearing by Saratha and Rani led to the violent attack. Madhavan and his sons were asked to pay a fine of Rs. 1000 each, failing which they have to undergo one more month of rigorous imprisonment. Rani and Shantha have to undergo two years simple imprisonment.

Kandhikuppam Inspector Chandiran investigated the case. Public Prosecutor was Rajaprakasam.

Six acquitted

Six members of Rajini Fans’ Association were acquitted in a case relating to burning PMK founder Ramadoss in effigy.

K.S. Seenivasan, Dharmapuri district in-charge of the association and five others were arrested in 2004 in front of the Kaveripattinam bus stand. The Krishnagiri District Judicial Magistrate Sivagnanam acquitted them saying that the prosecution had failed to prove the charges.
