Proceeding for the ritual: The procession carrying the Brahmakalasom for the Kalabhabhishekom ritual at Lord Ayyappa Temple at Sabarimala on Thursday. PATHANAMTHITTA: The first Kalabhabhishekom ritual of the Mandalam-Makaravilakku festival was performed at Lord Ayyappa Temple at Sabarimala on Thursday. Tantri Kandararu Rajeevaru, assisted by Melsanthi Vishnu Namboodiri, performed the ritual prior to the Utchapuja. The Kalabhom (sandal paste) was distributed as prasadom to devotees. PCB directiveThe Kerala State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) has directed the Travancore Devaswom Board to supply only chlorinated drinking water to the Nilackal base camp. District Environment Engineer Paulus Eapen, in a letter to Executive Engineer at Sabarimala Narayanan Nambeesan, directed the TDB to ensure periodic water treatment and replacement of water in Bhasmakkulam. Mr. Eapen also directed the TDB works department to make sure that the contractor entrusted with the task of removing rags from the Pampa on the foothills of Sabarimala was doing the work satisfactorily. A 70-year-old worker at the Devaswom Annadana Mandapam at Sannidhanam, Parthasarathy Pillai of Pullookulangara Kandalloor Kaniyamparambil house in Kollam district, died of heart attack on Wednesday night. According to the police, the death occurred at the Cardiology Centre of the Sree Ayyappa Health Amenities Society at Sannidhanam and the body was taken to Kollam later.
