Pack of dogs attacks deer

Staff Reporter

SALEM: A spotted deer, which strayed into human habitations near Vazhapadi, sustained injuries after it was attacked by dogs on Wednesday.

According to sources said the deer strayed into Kalleripatti village in search of water, when a pack of dogs chased the animal and attacked.

Residents in the area rescued the animal and informed the forest officials, who took the deer for treatment.

Road block

School students along with the residents of Thottampatti village blocked the traffic near Taramangalam on Wednesday urging the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation to direct its drivers to stop the buses at their village.

They claimed that a majority of the drivers were not stopping the vehicle at the village, which left the students to face difficulties in reaching their school on time.

They also wanted the Corporation to instruct the drivers and conductors to treat the school students with respect. Traffic was hit.
