A farmer’s burden

Tedious: The absence of roads for tractors to carry paddy from the paddy fields of Kuttanad has forced the labourers to carry them to spots from where they are loaded on to lorries. The M.S. Swaminathan Commission report has called for laying roads to reduce such expenses.
