Ticket-seekers lathicharged near cricket stadium

Bangalore Bureau

BANGALORE: Although India is just one win away from winning the one-day series against England after Wednesday’s win in Kanpur, the result has not dimmed the interest of the city fans here for the fourth ODI between India and England at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday.

As the eager crowd queuing up for the tickets swelled on Thursday afternoon, the police had to resort to mild lathicharge to control the situation.

Several hundreds had gathered overnight, braving the chill and queued even 12 to 14 hours in advance but most had to go home disappointed as within a couple of hours on Thursday, the KSCA announced that tickets were sold out.
