Guntur
Tejeswi Prakhya, a Tenali-based artiste, performs at the District Youth Festival held in Guntur on Wednesday. GUNTUR: The open space in front of the District Youth Welfare Office was converted into a mini open theatre on Wednesday evening and the performance of the folk dancers from Palnadu provided a fitting finale to the three-day District Youth Festival. Though the sparse crowd all throughout the festival was an unending feature of this year’s festivities, a large number of folk artistes from various parts of the district regaled the crowd with their enthusiastic performances. District Youth Welfare Officer and Convener of the festival V. Mark said that events in folk song, folk dance- Manipuri, Konkani and classical dances were held on Wednesday followed by Kolatam, group songs and dances. Events were organised in 24 disciplines this year. Mr. Mark said the final list would be sent for the approval of District Collector B. Venkatesham before being sent for the State-level selections.
