Traffic goes haywire on Hyderabad-Tandur road

Traffic blocked for hours along the 40-km stretch

HYDERABAD: The meeting organised at Chevella in connection with laying of foundation stone for Pranahita Chevella Sujala Sravanti and launch of incentive scheme for farmers threw traffic on Hyderabad-Tandur road out of gear.

As Congress aspirants and leaders vied with one another to mobilise crowds to attract the attention of party leadership, traffic was blocked for hours together and traffic jams for several kilometres were witnessed all along the 40-km stretch.

The police appeared helpless as there was no let up in the number of vehicles and they had to stop the flow few kilometres ahead of the meeting venue.

As a result, a majority of the people who came to attend the meeting had to trek three to four kilometres and some of them were disappointed to see Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy flying off before they could reach the venue.

Jam till evening

The traffic jam continued till late in the evening and the road users, particularly those travelling in RTC buses were put to severe inconvenience as the buses in which they were travelling were stranded for hours.
