MADURAI: The Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam will conduct a mass marriage at Cumbum on Sunday. The party’s State treasurer, R. Sundar Rajan, told reporters here on Wednesday that party leader, Vijaykanth, and his wife, Premalatha, would solemnise 54 marriages. The party’s Theni district unit would bear the entire expenses of the marriage during which each bride would be given ‘tirumangalyam’ and each couple silk wedding dress, furniture and provisions meant for one month. The party had been getting applications from unemployed youth seeking jobs. “We have planned to conduct job mela in all districts,” Mr. Sundar Rajan said. Work on setting up of computer training institutes was on in Koodal Nagar and Usilampatti where youth would be provided free training in computer operations to make them employable. S. Ravidran, State labour wing treasurer, was present.
