‘Eplus Clubs’ target students, particularly in government colleges HYDERABAD: A new initiative from The Hindu to help the students’ community acquire communication skills to improve their employability factor would begin in SRR Government Degree and PG College in Karimnagar on Thursday. The initiative taken up by the newspaper’s weekly supplement, Education Plus, will get underway, when its Editor-in-Chief, N. Ram launches an ‘Eplus Club’ of a select group of students of the SRR College. The Satavahana University Vice-Chancellor, Mohd. Iqbal Ali, District SP Y. Gangadhar, Joint Collector Ch. Vijaya Mohan and SRR College Principal C. Vijaya Kumar would be present. The ‘Eplus Club’ members would meet every day and follow a training module supplied to them by The Hindu Education Plus in association with SkillSpark, a Hyderabad-based employability assessment company. Modules are designed to make students think and learn English in an informal method. The ‘Eplus Clubs’ target students in their second year of graduation, especially in government colleges of Tier II and Tier III towns where students with rural background are at a disadvantage in respect of acquiring language skills, an essential component in improving their employability quotient. Similar clubs are to be launched in government colleges located in Anantapur, Vijayawada, Guntur, Nagarjunasagar and Srikakulam towns next week.
