Disclosing this at a press conference here on Wednesday, the Sports Minister said the cost of the project was estimated at Rs. 30 crore.
Of this, the amount required for the completion of the first phase (Rs.10 crore) will be realised as contributions from Members of Parliament, MLAs, municipalities and panchayats.
The Cabinet has decided to request all MPs from the State to contribute Rs. 50 lakh each from their development funds. In the case of MLAs, it would be Rs. 10 lakh.
The five municipalities in the district have been asked to contribute Rs. 25 lakh each and the 102 panchayats Rs. 2 lakh each.
The project will be undertaken at a 25-acre plot provided by the Manjeri municipality to the Government.
