Global investors’ meet put off

Special Correspondent

BANGALORE: The global economic slowdown has cast its dark shadow on Karnataka’s proposed global investors’ meet, an event to showcase the State’s investment potential.

The meet, which was scheduled to be held in Bangalore from January 15 to 16, 2009 has now been put off indefinitely.

Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa told presspersons on Wednesday that the meet had been put off as of now following suggestions from the industrial associations and entrepreneurs.

He said fresh dates would be decided three months later when the Government would review the impact of the global economic slowdown and also elicit the views of the industrial bodies and industrialists.

The Chief Minister directed the officials concerned to continue the preparations for showcasing Karnataka’s investment potential despite the event being put off.
