Championing a cause: Rajya Sabha MP Kanimozhi flagging off the Sri Lankan Tamils Awareness March in Chennai on Tuesday.
CHENNAI: It is unjustifiable to term the demands for ceasefire in Sri Lanka on humanitarian grounds treason, DMK MP Kanimozhi said here on Tuesday.
“It is unfortunate that in the civilised world, Tamil children in Sri Lanka are forced to live in trenches instead of attending schools,” she said flagging off the campaign van of the Student Federation of Tamil Nadu.
The vehicle will travel across the State till December 1 and urge people to contribute towards the Sri Lankan Tamil Relief Fund.
Urging the Indian government to raise its voice against the killing of Tamils, she said, “One should view the issue from the humanitarian point of view, if not interested in approaching it as a problem of Tamils.”
Viduthalai Chiruthaikal Katchi leader Thol Thirumavalavan, Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam leader Viduthalai Rajendran, Sri Lankan poet Kasi Anandan, Dravidan Movement Tamil Forum president Suba Veerapandian and Youth Movement Founder M.N.Ezhilan participated.
