Satschko leads the challenge

KOLKATA: Alexander Satschko of Germany leads the entries for the main draw in $15,000 ITF men’s Futures tennis tournament, to be organised by Jaidip Mukerjea Tennis Academy, here from November 24. He had won the title in a similar tournament at the same venue last year.

The Indian field is encouraging with seasoned southpaw Sunil Kumar Sipaeya leading the pack. Other Indians who get a direct entry into the main draw are: Divij Sharan, Rohan Gajjar, V.M. Ranjeet, Rupesh Roy, Vishnu Vardhan, Navdeep Singh and Purav Raja.

Abhishek Tiwari, a promising junior, would be given one of the four wildcards, informed the organiser. The rest of the wild cards are yet to be decided. — Principal Correspondent
