Rizwanur case: police officers told to surrender
Special Correspondent
KOLKATA: The three officers of the city police, who are among those to be chargesheeted by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for various charges in connection with the death of the computer graphics teacher, Rizwanur Rahman, have been directed by the Calcutta High Court to surrender by Friday.
Rizwanur was found dead by the side of the railway tracks near here on September 21, 2007. The CBI, directed to take over investigations, had concluded that his death was a case of suicide but chargesheeted seven persons for abetment to suicide and criminal intimidation.
The court, in a ruling on Tuesday, cancelled the interim bail granted to the three officers by a lower court earlier.
