Abhiyan to create awareness against infiltration launched

‘Bangladeshi infiltrators disturbing peace in the north-east’

AGAINST ANTI-NATIONAL ACTIVITIES: ABVP taking out a procession in Bijapur on Tuesday.

Bijapur: Members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishat (ABVP) district unit launched Jana Jagruthi Abhiyan here on Tuesday to create awareness among the common man and the younger generation about Bangladeshi infiltrators who, they said, are disturbing peace in the north-eastern States of the country.

A procession was taken out from Siddeshwar Temple through the main streets of the city to the Darbar High School Ground. Addressing a gathering, ABVP District Welcome Committee president P.S. Udupikar said the number of Bangaldeshis in Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh was just five per cent in 1971. However, in 2005, their number had increased to 33 per cent.

In more than 3,000 villages of these States, the number of Bangladeshis was more than 80 per cent. In Assam, there were 6,721 mosques, 1,476 madarasas. More than 20,000 cows are smuggled every day to slaughterhouses in Bangladesh, he added. He alleged that more than 200 centres had been opened on the India-Bangladesh border to train terrorists to disturb peace in the nation, and these infiltrators were also involved spreading counterfeit currency. They have entered their names in the voters’ identity cards through foul means and are enjoying benefits here. The Government should identify such persons and have them sent out.

“Their anti-social activities have increased in the last four years due to the negligence and lethargic attitude of the Manmohan Singh-led United Progressive Alliance Government,” he added.

He demanded that the Government should take steps to send these infiltrators out of the country and protect the north-eastern States.
