Staff Reporter

Kochi: K.S. Sarathchandran, Judicial First Class Magistrate, Ernakulam, has recorded the statement of Sanju P. Mathew in the Sister Abhaya death case. Mr. Mathew lives near the Pius X Convent Hostel in Kottayam where the body of Sister Abhaya was found. The Magistrate recorded the statement in camera and sent it to the Ernakulam Chief Judicial Magistrate, in whose court the case is pending. The Chief Judicial Magistrate ordered that the statement be kept in the sub-treasury.

Mr. Mathew had earlier given statements and was subject to polygraph and brain-mapping tests by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
