Ariyalur college girl wins taekwondo championship

Well done: Collector R. Sudalaikannan felicitates S. Sathya in Ariyalur on Monday.
ARIYALUR: Collector R. Sudalaikannan on Monday felicitated a college student S. Sathya, who had won the first prize in the 28th Open National Taekwondo Championship – 2008, at New Delhi, recently.
Sathya, a B.A. student at Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan College for Women in Perambalur district, is a resident of Vettiyarvetti village in Udayarpalayam Taluk in Ariyalur district.
Earlier, V. Vanitha, the new Superintendent of Police of Perambalur district, who also holds the additional charge of Ariyalur district, called on the Collector.
271 petitions
A total of 271 petitions, mostly pertaining to old age pension, disabled assistance, education loan, and free house site pattas were presented to the Collector during the weekly public grievances redressal session. The petitions were forwarded to the officials concerned for prompt action.
The Collector was accompanied by senior officials, including the Project Director of DRDA R. Venkatachalam, RDO K. Devarajan, Social Security Scheme Deputy Collector B. Balakrishnan, District Backward Classes Welfare Officer K. Srinivasan, and other senior officials.
