35 petitions heard at facilitation council meet

Councils vested with legal powers to act on delayed payments to Micro and Small Enterprises
CHENNAI: The fifth meeting of the Micro and Small Enterprises Facilitation Council for Chennai Region was held on Monday, in which 35 petitions were heard. Four cases were adjudicated and two cases were settled and the amount settled was Rs.17.75 lakh.
The Micro and Small Enterprises Facilitation Councils for Chennai, Tiruchi, Madurai and Coimbatore regions were constituted as per a G.O. issued in July 2007, according to the provisions of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Act 2006.
The councils have been vested with legal powers to act on delayed payments to Micro and Small Enterprises, by providing alternative dispute resolution services.
The Councils have jurisdiction to act as an Arbitrator or Conciliator with respect to disputes arising between the supplier (Micro and Small Enterprise) located within the Council’s jurisdiction and a buyer located anywhere in India.
Micro and Small Enterprises, who face delayed payment issues, may file their requests with a prayer petition, affidavit and necessary copies of evidence documents to the Zonal Officer, Micro and Small Enterprises Facilitation Council/ Regional Joint Director of Industries and Commerce, Guindy, Chennai – 32.
