Wakf Board election results announced
HYDERABAD: In the results of Andhra Pradesh State Wakf Board elections, Akbar Nizamuddin has been declared elected in the Mutawwali category while MLA Shaik Subhani has been declared elected in the Legislator’s category, a release said. In the Bar Council category, Noushad Ali has been elected.
The release from Deputy Secretary to Government, Executive Officer of AP State Haj Committee, Mohd. Siddique, said that the elections for these categories were held in January, 2008.
However, as the issue was under subjudice, the counting was delayed and the final hearing concluded recently.
Based on the opinion of the Advocate-General of the State government, orders were issued to arrange for counting of the ballots. Accordingly, the ballot boxes kept in the A.P. Treasury were taken out and the counting was held in the chambers of Special Officer of AP State Wakf Board in the presence of contestants, a release said.
