Builder held

The II Town Police on Monday arrested a builder T. Umamaheswara Rao at the direction of the First Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, after a woman lodged a complaint with the court against him.

Complainant T. Venkataramanamma in her complaint said that she had paid Rs. 1.04 lakhs to Mr. Umamaheswara Rao during October 2006 towards advance for an apartment with both agreeing that the balance of the amount to be paid when the completed flat was handed over to her.

Ms. Venkataramanamma alleged that Mr. Umamaheswara Rao after calling her to his office on February 7, 2008 to sign some documents, abused her and assaulted her. She filed complaint under Sections 354 (outraging modesty of a woman), 509 (insulting and abusing), 420 (cheating) and 506 (intimidation) of IPC.

I Additional CMM J.M. Bharatha Lakshmi after hearing her complaint ordered the II Town Police to arrest the builder.
