Refurbished parks to be opened today

Chennai: Local Administration Minister M.K. Stalin will inaugurate the renovated Thiru. Vi. Ka. Nagar Park in Shenoy Nagar on Tuesday.

The Chennai Corporation has renovated the park located in Pulla Avenue at a cost of Rs.1.52 crore. The circular park with an area of 8.8 acres has been landscaped and equipped with new play equipment for children.

It will have walking tracks, a large stage to perform yoga, water fountains, badminton courts, decorative lamps and stone benches. Modern toilets and parking space have also been provided. The park has a wealth of flora, including several peepal, Ashoka and palmyra trees.

Mr. Stalin will also inaugurate several other parks that were renovated or recently developed by the Corporation.

The parks include Jawahar Nagar Park in Kodungaiyur; Mint Modern City Park near R.K. Nagar; Syndicate Nagar and Senthil Nagar parks in Kolathur; Manickam Park near Kilpauk; SAF Games Village Park in Koyambedu; Mayor Sathyamurthy Park in Chetpet; Mayor Sundar Rao Park in Pudupet; Dharmambal Park in R.A. Puram; A.G.S. Colony Park in Velachery and Kalaignar Park in Alwarpet.

A total of Rs.2.95 crore has been spent on the parks.

Electricity Minister Arcot N. Veeraswami and Mayor M. Subramanian will accompany Mr.Stalin during the programme.
