Marredpally Blues posts big win

HYDERABAD: Marredpally Blues beat Green Turf CC by 73 runs in the A Division league cricket championship on Monday.

‘A’ Division one-day matches: Marredpally Blues 235 (Avinash 49, Ritesh Rao 47, Prabhu Kiran 76, Moshin four for 60) bt Green Turf CC 162 (Agha 55, Hari Mohan five for 65).

Red Hills 193 for nine (Abrar 40) bt Southern Stars 176 (Imroz six for 36).

Vijay Bharathi CC 223 (Chandrashekar 73, Vamshi 60 not out) bt Gaganmahal 183 (Tiru 45, Seshagiri five for 60).

SBH beats Sastry club

State Bank of Hyderabad defeated Sastry Club 3-0 in the SAAP-Budweiser trophy Premier league football tournament.

Fared scored the first goal off a pass from Abidi in the 17th minute and then also scored the second by converting a spot kick. The third was a self goal by defender Vasu.

Tadban wins

Tadban club thrashed GHMC Marredpally 8-1 in the GHMC hockey championship for juniors.

Ashwin Kumar and Ajay Kumar scored four goals each for Tadban while for GHMC Marredpally, the lone scorer was Vikram.

Other results: GHMC Amberpet 5 (Parminder 2, Yeshwanth Kumar 2, Sharath) bt Rising Stars 1 (Venkat Surya).

Mohammedan Sporting 2 (Subhan, Quarram) bt Youth League 0.

Jagadish wins title

V. Jagadish with 8 points won the title in the Tatipally Gopala Krishna trophy prize money open chess tournament conducted by YMCA Narayanguda.

Abwar Ul Uloom triumphs

Anwar Ul Uloom College won the Osmania University inter-college carrom tournament by beating CBIT 3-0 in the final. Mudasar Ali beat Sanjeev 25-1, 25-4 while Irfan beat Girish 25-7, 25-19 and Sanaullah and Quadeer beat Naidu and Abhinay 15-25, 25-18, 25-15.

For third place, Bhavans College beat NB Science college 2-1.

Tennis tournament

Sunjay tennis academy will conduct a local tournament for boys and girls in the under-10, 12 and 14 age groups from November 21. Last date for entries is November 20. For details, call 27506800.

Basketball tournament

The District Basketball Association is conducting its annual mobile inter-school tournament for boys and girls in Visakhapatnam from November 27 to December 1.

The tournament will be held at different schools during the weekdays. Entries have to be sent to secretary of DBA B. Ramayya (98481 40074).
