“Centre against West Bengal’s interests”

Special Correspondent

KOLKATA: The State leadership of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) blamed the UPA government for colluding with Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren’s Jharkhand Mukti Morcha regarding its demand for merger of certain parts of West Bengal with Jharkhand — one that is adding fuel to the on-going agitation in Paschim Medinipur district.

“The Centre has been acting against the interests of the people of West Bengal ever since the withdrawal of support to it by the Left parties; this is now clear,” Biman Bose, Secretary of the CPI(M)’s West Bengal State Committee, said here on Monday.
