Proud owners: Children of government schools with their prized possessions in Bangalore on Monday.

Bangalore: Ranishri C. cannot stop smiling as she shows the computer project she has done using a memory chip. The graphic design done by this student of Class VI at the government school in Uyyamballi, Ramanagara district, shows EDUSAT satellite going around the earth.

Lakshmi M., one year her senior in the same school, has done a neat graphic showing her school and its playground.

The two girls were among the many from higher primary schools in Kanakapura taluk who got 2-GB pen drives from the Sikshana Foundation, a non-governmental organisation, as part of a new project called “Personal Chip,” here on Monday.

Prasanna V.R., chief operating officer of Sikshana, said that 230 children from 84 new schools adopted by Sikshana would also receive a monthly scholarship of Rs. 150 for three years.

The programme was presided over by working president of the State unit of the Congress D.K. Shivakumar. Primary and Secondary Education Minister Vishweshwara Hegde Kageri inaugurated the function.
