Students protest

NAMAKKAL: Students of the Veterinary College and Research Institute here attended classes wearing black badges on Monday urging the Union Government to establish an Indian Council of Veterinary Research (ICVR) on the lines of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).

They claimed that the veterinarians were not given due importance in the recruitment and development programmes of the ICAR. The formation of the ICVR would help promote animal husbandry activities and research in this area, they said.
