The volleyball team of Kannankurichi Government Higher Secondary School, Salem, won the Salem education district level tournament for under-17 boys category held recently. The team was selected to participate in the divisional level match to be held in Krishnagiri. Meanwhile, the beach volleyball team also won the district level event in the under-17 boys category. The team will play in the State level event to be held in Chennai. A standard 10 student from the school G. Dharanivendhan played for the Tamil Nadu team at the national level mini volleyball event held in Andhra Pradesh, in which the team won the championship. He was also selected for the State volleyball team in the under-17 boys category and would play in the national level championship to be held in West Bengal this month. School Headmaster R. Seenivasan, Physical Education Director Robert Christopher and teachers congratulated Dharanivendhan and the team members. Sapling planting driveSri Vani Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Thoppampatti in Namakkal district organised tree planting drive. Over 200 students of the school participated in the drive and planted about 500 saplings on both sides of Mettala Thammampatti road. Senior revenue officials and school teachers guided the students. CongratulatedThe volleyball team from the Kongunadu Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Velagoundampatti in Namakkal district bagged the second place in the divisional level tournament held in Erode. The team earlier won the district level tournament to play in the divisional level match. School management, principal and teachers congratulated the team members. Meanwhile, the Universal Talent Search Examination was conducted at the school. The Chennai-based Shakespeare Institute of English Studies conducted the test, in which 105 students from the school appeared. QuizThe Rasi International School in Rasipuram conducted an inter-school quiz for students in Salem and Namakkal districts. The participants were grouped into four categories: Category I - Standard III to V, Category II Standard VI to VIII, Category III Standard IX to X and Category IV Plus I and Plus II. K.S. Dhilshath Begum was the quiz master. Students of Golden Gates MHSS, Salem, won the first place in all the four categories. The winners in other categories are as follows (in the order of second and third place) : Category I Rasipuram Sri Vidhya Mandir HSS, Rasi International School; Category II Vivekananda Vidhya Bhavan, Rasi International School; Category III Tiruchengode Vidhya Vikas School, Rasipuram Vetri Vikas school; Category IV - Tiruchengode Vidhya Vikas school. School chairman S. Sathiyamoorthi distributed the certificates and prizes to the winners. Principal D. Vidhyasagar was present at the function.
