Expansion of Haryana Pavilion on the cards Metro rail service to be extended to Manesar NEW DELHI: The Haryana Government plans to develop an exhibition complex over an area of 250 to 300 acres near Delhi. This was disclosed by Haryana Chief Secretary Dharam Vir to visiting journalists from Chandigarh at the Haryana Pavilion in the ongoing India International Trade Fair at Pragati Maidan here over the weekend. He said senior Haryana Government officials had broached the subject with the India Trade Promotion Organisation chairperson and the proposal was in a “preliminary planning stage”. He also disclosed that expansion of the Haryana Pavilion at Pragati Maidan was very much on the cards and even several sites had been identified but the final approval would be given by the Centre. He added that the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal expressway would be completed within the scheduled period by July 2009. An agreement has been signed between Haryana and Delhi to introduce a new taxi service in the National Capital Region. Moreover, the metro rail service would be extended from Gurgaon to Manesar. The Government is formulating a plan to connect Faridabad-Bahadurgarh and Sonepat with this service. Talking about one of the themes of the Trade Fair this year which was amply reflected in the Haryana Pavilion, he reiterated that thanks to the tremendous boost given to development of infrastructure by the Bhupinder Singh Hooda-led regime, industrial projects involving an investment of about Rs.90,000 crore are under implementation and projects with an investment of Rs.40,000 crore have already been implemented. Also, Haryana has received foreign direct investment totalling Rs.9,000 crore in the past three years. He said Haryana had received the highest number of Special Economic Zone proposals in the country and the State Government had also enacted the Haryana Special Economic Zone Act to facilitate establishment of a large number of industries having export commitments. As many as 97 proposals to set up Special Economic Zones in Haryana catalysing industrial infrastructure investment of Rs.2 lakh crore had been received and out of these 62 proposals had been granted formal or in-principle approvals by the Centre. It is envisaged that industrial investment of Rs.2 lakh crore for 20 lakh people over the years will be created through these SEZs. He further said that Haryana had made rapid strides in women’s empowerment and the State Pavilion reflected these “endeavours” to bring about social change.
