Mysore: Robin Uthappa led from the front, scoring his seventh Ranji hundred and second this season as the host finished the day on 277 for seven against Andhra in their Group ‘B’ Ranji Trophy Super League match at the Gangothri Glades grounds here on Sunday

The Karnataka middle-order frittered away yet another good chance after the openers Uthappa (133, 261m, 192b, 16x4s, 1x6) and K.B Pawan (32, 96b, 5x4s) put on 106 runs for the opening wicket.

Earlier, Uthappa called it right on a placid track, batted freely and played some wonderful strokes both in front and square of the wicket. Pawan was the first to go, caught by Manoj Sai off medium-pacer P. Vijay Kumar in the first over after lunch.

The visitor struck again when new-comer Ganesh Satish (1) was trapped in front by leggie M. Suresh and Karnataka was in a spot of bother at 113 for two.

Rahul Dravid, who came in next, added 84 runs for the fourth wicket with Uthappa. The skipper, when on 24, had a reprieve, dropped by Hemal Watekar at covers and the bowler to suffer was Kalyan Krishna.

Robin carried on from the let-off and played some pleasing drives. He departed when trying to guide the ball to the third-man, edging it straight to Watekar off Gnaneshawar Rao.

Dravid was bowled by a peach of a delivery from Kalyan Krishna which hit the deck and came in for which he did not offer any stroke. The host lost four wickets in a span of 44 runs to lose way after bright start.

The eighth wicket pair of R. Vinay Kumar (27 not out) and Sunil Joshi (18 not out) batted resolutely to add 36 runs before bad light stopped play twelve minutes before close.
