Baalu greets crew

NEW DELHI: Expressing relief and happiness over the release of the ship hijacked by pirates near the Gulf of Aden two months ago, Union Minister for Shipping, Road, Transport and Highways T.R. Baalu has conveyed his best wishes for a safe journey back home to the crew members.

With Indians forming the majority of the crew – 18 out of 22 – Mr. Baalu had been closely monitoring the events after the vessel was hijacked and had been pursuing the issue with the External Affairs and Defence Ministers. The chairman of the National Shipping Board had also visited Japan in connection with the issue, as a Japanese owned the ship. In a message, Mr. Baalu also conveyed his best wishes to the family members of the crew.
