Attempt to show black flags to Chief Minister

Staff Reporter

Coimbatore: The Coimbatore City Police in two separate incidents on Sunday removed 35 activists of Hindu outfits for attempting to show black flags to Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi who arrived here for Anna Centenary Zonal conference.

Activists of the Indu Makkal Katchi (Tamizhagam) and the Hindu Munnani and Haunman Sena were removed by the police when they gathered near Koniamman temple and Gandhipuram to stage black flag agitation against the Chief Minister.

The outfits had called for the agitation to protest against the alleged inaction of the State Government and the police during the Law College students clash in Chennai on Wednesday, for anti-Hindutva stand taken by the Chief Minister on various issues and foisting of “false” cases against Hindu activists.
