ANECDOTE TIME: Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi sharing a point with PWD Minister Durai Murugan at a Vazhakkadu Manram organised as part of the Anna centenary celebrations in Coimbatore on Sunday.

Coimbatore: Chief Minister and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam president M. Karunanidhi on Sunday took a trip down memory lane, recalling his association with his political mentor and former Chief Minister C.N. Annadurai.

Seated in a front row, the Chief Minister watched a “Vazhakkadu Mandram” at the Corporation Kalaiarangam, organised as part of the Annadurai’s centenary celebrations.” He sat there for more than one-and-a-half hour. The topic was “which benefited the most from the efforts of C.N. Annadurai–Society or Politics.”

Even as the Chief Minister was deeply engrossed in the proceedings, he recollected memorable events and incidents and shared them with Ministers K. Anbazhagan and Durai Murugan seated on his either side and with Parithi Illamvazhuthi seated right behind him. The Chief Minister was completely focussed on the debate watching the stage and television that was kept in front of him.

Anecdotes and jokes relating to students treating teachers and scenes in buses made each one laugh, including the Chief Minister.

Later the speakers and the moderator handed over their contributions to the Sri Lankan Tamils Relief Fund.
