Bangalore: The State Government, which has released Rs. 2.29 crore to the State Haj Committee for purchasing land for a Haj Bhavan, will extend a substantial concession in the land registration fee, Minister for Information Katta Subrmanya Naidu has said. Addressing the first batch of Haj Pilgrims from the State here on Sunday, he said Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa had conveyed that the Government would extend Rs. 2 crore assistance for the proposed Haj Bhavan. Chairman of the committee Zulfiqar Ahmed Khan said the committee had received 18, 000 applications against the quota of 5,923 pilgrims fixed by the Haj Committee of India. However, the committee had selected 7,000 applicants. The first batch of pilgrims would leave Bangalore on Monday and the last batch on December 1, he said.
