Raghunath bags five wickets

Parry Sports Recreation Club enters final

KOCHI: Spinner Raghunath, who took five wickets for 26 runs, along with Easwar (105, 82b, 7x6, 9x4), and Shivakumar (84, 38b, 6x6, 8x4) helped Chennai’s Parry Sports Recreation Club crush Jolly Rovers (Coimbatore) by 253 runs.

With this win Parry Sports Recreation Club cruised into the final of the 58th Maruti Homes Pooja all-India cricket tournament at the Tripunithura Palace Oval on Saturday.

Parry, which defeated Thrissur’s Oktopals CC earlier, topped the three-team Group ‘B’ and will meet Kochi’s Pattara Swantons CC in Sunday’s final.

The scores: Parry SRC, Chennai 362 for eight in 45 overs (Easwar 105, Shivakumar 84, Raghavendra 50, Anand 40, Suresh Kumar four for 78) bt Jolly Rovers, Coimbatore 109 in 23.3 overs (Raghunath five for 26).

Kottayam triumphs

Kottayam won the overall title in the 30th Kerala State sub-junior boys wrestling championship at the Central stadium here on Saturday. Kottayam finished with 39 points. Kasargod (25 points) and Palakkad (24) finished second and third respectively.
