792 candidates selected for VAO post

Aloysius Xavier Lopez

CHENNAI: The government has selected 792 candidates for being appointed village administrative officer (VAO), based on the results of a special qualifying test conducted by the Revenue Department.

The government had earlier ordered the Special Commissioner and Commissioner of Revenue Administration to conduct the test for candidates who had passed the village headman test prior to November 14, 1980 and had a minimum of five years of service remaining as on September 30, 2007.

After appointment of the candidates, the proposal for regularisation will be sent to the government for obtaining the concurrence of the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission. “We are grateful to the government. The long wait of 27 years has come to an end,” said one of the candidates.
