CM to visit city today

Coimbatore: Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi will arrive in city by a scheduled aircraft at 7.20 a.m. on Sunday for attending a party conference.

He is likely to inaugurate the Coimbatore Corporation’s south zone office on Huzur Road before attending a Vazhakkadu Mandram on the lofty ideals of former Chief Minister C.N. Annadurai at Corporation Kalaiarangam in R.S. Puram in the morning.

Later in the evening, the Chief Minister is scheduled to address the zonal conference of the party to commemorate the birth centenary celebrations of Annadurai at Sivananda Colony. After night halt, the Chief Minister will leave by a scheduled aircraft on Monday morning.

Tight security

In view of the Chief Minister’s visit, a tight security cover has been thrown around the city, especially at his place of stay, The Residency, R.S. Puram Corporation Kalaiarangam and the conference venue at Sivananda Colony. More than 2,000 police personnel have been mobilised for the bandobust duty and reinforcements have come from neighbouring districts as well.
