Road Safety Exhibition opens
NEW DELHI: Delhi Police Commissioner Y. S. Dadwal inaugurated the annual Road Safety Exhibition-2008 at the Pragati Maidan traffic pavilion here on Saturday.
Underlining the importance of road safety, Mr. Dadwal said most of the accidents take place because of undisciplined and inconsiderate motorists and other road users. He also emphasised the role of automated computerised machines for quality prosecution and the need for enhanced public participation for better traffic management.
Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) S. N. Srivastava said that various measures were being taken to inculcate discipline and road safety sense among the public.
The exhibition this year focuses on vulnerable road users such as pedestrians and two-wheeler riders and the big vehicles involved in road accidents. Photographs and general safety tips are on display at the exhibition to sensitise the road users. Road safety literature for free distribution to the visitors, painting and quiz competition and film shows are the added attraction.
A book - “A Guide to Road Safety” - was also released.
