Treta, Shalini stay in race

KOLKATA: Treta Bhattacharyya and Shalini Shaoo remained the only Indians in the fray after the first round of qualifiers of the $50,000 Women’s Challenger at the here on Saturday.

Treta and Shalini, who together won the National women’s doubles crown last month, beat compatriots Prerna-Mythri Appineni and Dipti Srivastava respectively.

All the other Indian players lost first round matches to foreign opponents.
