Telangana to have 17 districts: KCR

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) president K. Chandrasekhar Rao has said that there would be 17 districts, against the current 10, after Telangana attains statehood.

Areas such as Vikarabad, Mancherial, Siddipet and Secunderabad, which were far away from the district headquarters, would be made districts themselves, he told a party meeting here on Saturday.

Positive hints

Mr. Rao said he had positive indications from New Delhi about the formation of separate Telangana shortly. He also learnt from his Congress friends there that elections were likely in a hundred days.

He announced the names of former legislator A. Chandrasekhar, and Ponnam Muralidhar as the president of Ranga Reddy and Mancherial district units of TRS.
