Surprise check on hostel reveals irregularities

HYDERABAD : Officials of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) found several irregularities in the running of Government Social Welfare College Boy’s Hostel-1, NSP Colony, Lingamguntla, Narsaraopet, in Guntur district, during a surprise check conducted late on Friday night.

A press release issued by ACB here on Saturday said the boarder’s attendance register was not maintained up to date. On verification, officials found only 110 boarders present, as against 238 mentioned in the register.

On verification of the stock register for commodities, the status report on rice alone was found and reports for other provisions were not available. Officials found variations following verification of rice stock with the register.

Officials also found that hostel’s honorary director P.S.R.M. Babu was not properly maintaining several records.
