SHGs get financial aid

Tirupur: Rally, seminar and disbursal of credit to women self-help groups marked the first anniversary celebrations of Tirupur North unit of Kalanjiyam, a movement launched by Dhan Foundation, here.
Forty women SHGs involved in agriculture, micro enterprises and tailoring, among other activities, received credit arranged by Kalanjiyam through various financial institutions during the programme.
A. Sabitha, project executive, Dhan Foundation, said the loan could be used by the group members for the entrepreneurial activities planned by them and for their consumption needs.
In an interaction session, financial experts explained to the SHG members how micro finance concept could be used a tool to achieve the objectives of poverty alleviation.
The micro financing would provide an opportunity for the poor to get an easy access to financial services, including credit, essential for starting or expanding micro-enterprises.
P. Chinnapillai, leader of Kalanjiyam Iyyakkam, was present.
Earlier, SHG members took out a rally in the town.
