Notice to BC panel chief withdrawn

Bangalore: Notices served on the Chairman of the Karnataka State Backward Classes Commission, C.S. Dwarakanath, and five other members of the commission during the President’s rule, asking for their resignation, was withdrawn by the Government on Friday. The notice was served in March 2008. He had moved the High Court questioning the validity of the notice and the case is in progress. The withdrawal of the notice is expected to hasten the much-delayed caste-based socio-economic and educational survey in Karnataka. An expert committee meeting has been called on November 17 to work out strategies for conducting the survey. — Special Correspondent
