‘Ministers launching personal attacks to cover up failures’

Special Correspondent

Bangalore: Janata Dal (Secular) leader N. Cheluvarayaswamy has said that the BJP ministers are launching personal attacks on leaders of his party in an effort to “divert people’s attention” from real issues such as acute power crisis facing the State and the continued confusion over the distribution of below poverty line cards.

Mr. Cheluvarayaswamy told presspersons here on Saturday that the ministers, including Labour Minister B.N. Bacchegowda, had made “uncivilised and abusive” remarks about leaders, including party supremo H.D. Deve Gowda, at the “insinuation” of Chief Miniser B.S. Yeddyurappa. “It is unfortunate that a senior leader like Mr. Bacchegowda stooped to this level,” he said.

No alliance with Cong

Mr. Cheluvarayaswamy urged the Congress leaders to stop making statements opposing alliance with the Janata Dal (Secular) since Mr. Deve Gowda had clearly stated that there would be no alliance.

“A decision has been taken at the national level that we will contest on our own,” he said.

Mr. Cheluvarayaswamy said that more than three lakh people were expected to take part in the Janata Dal (Secular) rally scheduled for November 17.
