Bio-metric ATMS

Staff Reporter

Krishnagiri: Indian Bank Assistant General Manager and Circle Head, Dharmapuri Circle, G. Muthappan, told The Hindu that to reduce the rush in branches, the bank plans to open five bio-metric automatic teller machines (ATMs) in Krishnagiri and Dharmapuri districts.

Five places had been identified for this. In Krishnagiri these would be opened in Royakottai and Berigai. In Dharmapuri district, the chosen spots are at Kambainallur, Papparapatti and Nallampalli.

He added that in these areas about 600 self-help groups (SHGs) were operating. The ATM facility would ease pressure on the banks. Some 10,000 SHG members would benefit.

Two bio-metric centres had been opened by Indian Bank, one at Kalayarkoil in Sivagangai district and Mettur in Salem district, Mr. Muthappan said.
