Man killed in blast
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE: An unidentified man died on the spot and three persons were injured when an LPG cylinder exploded in an illegal re-filling unit at Kadugodi on Friday.
Vinod Kumar (40), Khaleem Saab (40) and Vijay (6), residents of Kadugodi sustained minor injuries, the Kadugodi police said.
The illegal re-filling agency belonged to Vinod, a native of Mumbai.
For the past several months he had allegedly been illegally re-filling LPG from domestic cylinders to commercial cylinders. The blast occurred when workers of the unit were refilling an autorickshaw cylinder, Mandakini, a resident of Kadugodi told The Hindu.
“Several times we held protests against that illegal unit and also requested the Kadugodi police and officials of the Department of Food and Civil Supplies, but no action was taken,” she said.
However, the police said they had not received any complaints against the unit.
