Goldsmith absconding

CHENNAI: A goldsmith has been absconding with 700 grams of gold given by a businessman for making jewellery.

According to the Elephant Gate police, Dipankar Das (28) of Waltax Road had given the gold to Nani Gopal on November 3. On Thursday, when he went to check the status of his order, the shop was closed. The owner of the house, where the goldsmith used to stay, said that he had vacated.
