55% turnout of voters in Chhattisgarh

NEW DELHI: Nearly 55 per cent of the 63.97 lakh electors turned out on Friday to cast their votes in the first phase of polling in 39 constituencies spread over 10 districts in Chhattisgarh to elect a new Assembly in the State.

Briefing reporters here, Deputy Election Commissioner Jayaprakash said there were 20 incidents of violence or disturbances in the polling in the State. Other incidents were reported from Bijapur and Durg districts.
