Manjrekar XI wins Sportstar Trophy

MUMBAI: Vijay Manjrekar XI topped the four-team round-robin league with 10 points after four rounds to win the 23rd Sportstar Trophy under-19 selection tournament on Friday.

Rahul Tondulkar of Vijay Merchant XI was adjudged the ‘player of the tournament’ for 299 runs in six innings and received the Ramakant Desai Trophy, along with Sportstar cricket kit and Nike kit bag from chief guest Shishir Hattangadi, former Mumbai Ranji opener.

Ramakant Desai Trophy for player of the tournament: Rohan Tondulkar (Vijay Merchant XI). Nike individual awards: Sumit Ghadigaonkar (best wicketkeeper), Himanshu Sonthalia (best bowler), Rohan Tondulkar (best batsmen).

Nike man of match awards: Siddhesh Kinlekar (Rangnekar XI), Sahil Madgaonkar (Manjrekar XI), Pratik Dabolkar (Phadkar XI), Sumit Ghadigaonkar (Manjrekar XI), Siddhesh Prasad (Rangnekar XI), Rahul Tondulkar (Merchant XI).

The scores:

Vijay Merchant XI 199 & 323 for five decl. drew with Dattu Phadkar XI 87 & 297 for nine (Chinmay Mahadkar 46, Nilkanth Parab 45, Aamir Bhorania 59, Nishant Sabnis 37, Nadeem Mehdi 33; Pratik Gawli five for 91, Aquib Shaikh four for 83).
