HCL Info launches weather resistant laptops

Special Correspondent

BANGALORE: HCL Infosystems on Friday launched its ‘Leaptop Series 39’ laptops with longer power backup. The two variants, designed for local climate and built on Intel Centrino and Centrino 2 processors, will cost Rs. 39,990 and Rs. 42,990.

HCL Executive Vice-President George Paul told reporters here that “The laptops were designed based on consumer feedback.” The Leaptops had a built-in cooling technology, with airflow within the computers to ensure that they remained at 6 degrees C below the ambient temperature calculated at 35 degrees C, he said.

Mr. Paul said the new range of laptops was extensively tested under hot and humid conditions. “Since energy efficiency is a major concern, these computers consume low power in the ‘sleep’ mode.”
