Farmer ends life

CHICKBALLAPUR: A debt-ridden farmer committed suicide by consuming poison at Haristhala village in Chickballapur Rural police station limits on Thursday. The police gave the name of the deceased as Chikkamuniyappa (57), father of seven. It is said that he had borrowed loans from nationalised banks and moneylenders. The police said they were yet to ascertain whether Chikkamuniyappa had taken the extreme step because of the debts.
